2D Lab Formation Sensor

Since TECHPAP is specialised in on-line formation sensors, a new lab version has been developed. This version gives the same results as the 2D on-line sensor.

The principle

A CCD camera takes images of sample. A stroboscope lightens the sample by transmission. The intensity of the light is regulated in order to obtain always the same average grey level of the image: in this way formation of sheets with very different basis weight or opacity can be compared.

The basis weight range is very large, from 5 g / m², tissue, printing and writing, tesliner, dryed board, a.s.o.

The images are analysed by an integrated computer. The results are displayed on a screen.

The device

Strongly built, the device is as strongly built as possible. It integrates the stroboscope and its regulation, a mirror, the sheet support, the camera, the computer, e removable hard disk, CD and floppy drivers.
Two sheet supports are provided:
- with milk glass for fine papers,
- with normal glass for heavier grades.

Beneast the device you have a standard PC screen, keyboard and mouse.
A foot button allows you to start analysis with automatic sample number incrementation.

This equipment requires no particular maintenance.

The software
The software runs under WINDOWS NT and is based on the on-line version. Easy to use, only 1 unique measuring window.

Easy friendly user interface

Specific lab. Menu:
1. Step by step measurement. For each sample, the following analysis is done :
A large display of the look-through
A global formation index, in excellent correlation with visual tests
Floc size distribution in up to 6 classes (1, 2, 3, 6, 10 and 16 mm).
Floc anisotropy
Statistical results

2. Periodic marks : three different markings can be detected and analysed

3. Image saving

In summary…

The interface is easy to use and very clear to understand, the screen can be customised to display any variable of interest. The visualisation of the sheet allows the user to view the manufactured sheet.

In summary the 2D F-sensor is:-
A ready to be used sensor (the equipment is totally pre adjusted and tested in our workshop).
-The perfect tool to visualise the look-through of paper.
-A view on the process with the global formation index ready to be used with other information, like floc distribution, average floc angle.
-
An efficient way to track periodic marks on your paper (shadow marking, web mark, felt mark).
